In this talk, Johannes will provide a brief overview of Ada’s AI-powered health guide and explore the challenges of designing and developing a conversational health guide to be used by millions of people across multiple languages and cultures. Since launching in 2016, Ada’s health guide app has grown to over 4M users worldwide across 5 languages- EN, SP, FR, PT and DE- and is supported by a growing medical knowledge base covering thousands of symptoms, conditions and an infinite number of symptom combinations.
Johannes will specifically look at some of challenges that arise when you have to deal with a centralised knowledge model that is used in different languages and cultures and will present some solutions for syntactic and semantic problems to create a conversational interface that feels natural and is medically appropriate and relevant within each person’s cultural and geographic context.
